weaving over and under
under and over
creating habitual patterns of movement until
there’s no wiggle room and
The more they try to move
the tighter they become
no longer resembling the vibrant strands that
organized around their casual current
What is it they hold in the
unyielding spaces in between?
Crusty bits flake off in the effort made to
The structure matters not
under the left shoulder blade
in stomach’s hollow
patterned on a wooden floor or
in the trunk of your favorite tree
Knots are knots are knots
some easier to unsnarl than others
Unflappable fingers can comb through the web of confusion as
breath and awareness can soften the resistance around
knitted connective tissues
Those in lumber’s grain can serve as a focal point to
unwind the mind
I sit with the pit’s gnarled seed in my gut
gazing hazily on the planks that make up my floor
Small swirly knots on the surface reflect the process I must endure to
to loosen what has constricted around my flow
This is the third book in the Wild series of poems, which explore themes of love, light and shadow, nature, and finally, living, loving, and letting go. This collection was written during a particularly potent time of impermanence, living through lessons requiring action as well as the discipline of bearing witness. These poems are heart-driven and accessible to a wide range of readers.
