THE MORE THINGS CHANGE We’ve all heard the old saying “The more things change the more things stay the same.” Well, my friends, it’s true. 2,000 years ago, the world was not much different than it is today. There was hypocrisy. There was rampant immorality, great political upheaval, and religious unrest. Sound familiar? The appearance of Jesus Christ on the world scene all those years ago threatened the political hierarchy of Herod the Great, causing the ruler to descend deeper into madness and paranoia. Herod, who thought nothing of killing his own family to ensure his reining power, cringed upon hearing excited rumors that a Messiah, the one people were calling “The King of the Jews” had been born in Bethlehem. Immediately, he set about devising a plan to locate and kill the one said to be the Savior, as prophesized in the Old Testament, and if it meant killing every child under the age of 2, then so be it. He had no scruples or moral compass. The streets would run red with the blood of innocent lives to ensure that no one took his crown. Those holding prominent positions in the Democratic party have much in common with the tyrannical King Herod. In their quest for absolute power, they have become all-consumed with hatred for a man who, in a sense, has been hailed by multitudes of commoners as a modern-day savior. For so long, those living just above the poverty line in democratic-run cities have had no choice but to bow down to their local officials and accept the crumbs of life fed to them. The people’s disenchantment with their leaders has deepened over time, and they have come to realize that the elite politicians have been living by a different set of rules than those that are being imposed on them. For so long they felt they had no recourse…they were too weak to challenge the government’s authority. As such, the Democrats sitting on their sanctimonious high horse have had no qualms about lording it over the commoners one decade after another, for as long as anyone can remember. When a businessman by the name of Donald J. Trump stepped into the office of the Presidency in 2-16, he stirred up a hornet’s nest, much like Jesus did during his 3 ½ year ministry on earth. Just like Jesus, Trump has been reviled and vilified by those who see him as a clear and present danger to their political agendas. He may not have a halo around his head, but the President is a bright light in a world that has grown dim. He has exposed corruption and overturned many of the restrictions placed on the American people which has only served to impede those of lesser means and opportunity from realizing their potential for growth and prosperity. Some say he is a miracle worker, for he does what no one else before him has been able to do. Time and time again, President Trump has symbolically turned water into wine. He has pardoned criminals and made believers out of many doubting Thomas’s. He has created a following, and wherever he goes multitudes of people flock to see him. He is loved, and his popularity among the people only angers his enemies. It seems that no matter how low they stoop, or what devious methods they concoct to end his rein, he easily slips through their fingers. Like King Herod the Great…the Democrats have one purpose, and that is to destroy their perceived enemy, Donald Trump. Make no mistake about it…they have no compunction, no moral conscience, and no hesitation about destroying anyone, including you and me, who stands in their way. In all fairness, I believe there are some Democrats who are starting to come to their senses. I believe they are appalled at the vitriol and violence that has become a stain on their political party. Unfortunately, instead of standing up and opposing what they know to be wrong…they have chosen to wash their hands of it, and let what happens happen. They are no better than Pontius Pilate and all those who stood with the mob watching as Jesus Christ, an innocent man, was crucified. Donald Trump is not our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who came to save us from our sins, however, he is being crucified every day in the media. Funny how every time the Democrats think they’ve buried him…he walks out of the tomb. 10-5-2020

WRESTLING WITH GOD highlights the author’s view of the pandemic years and the political and cultural upheaval that reared its ugly head simultaneously under the disastrous Biden administration.
The author recounts historical events chronologically through relatable stories and poetry to remind the reader what it was like to wake up and discover that the world they had grown up in was gone. The rug was unceremoniously pulled out from beneath America, and its citizens were left standing on a foundation of shifting sand, looking upon an unfamiliar landscape and wondering what had happened and what to do next. It was a time of fear, disbelief, chaos, and confusion. While desperate for answers, it became apparent all too soon that our leaders had forsaken us and that we were alone to navigate the new world order being ushered in on our own.
Many conservative Christians wondered where God was and why he didn’t do something to stop the insanity. Our safety, livelihood, family values, and sovereignty as a nation were being threatened, and we were in danger of losing the freedoms our forefathers fought and died for. We were left wrestling with unwanted feelings of fear, anger, anguish, hate, contempt, and distrust of our government, with each threatening to become strongholds in our hearts and minds, which were in direct conflict with the teachings of our faith. We prayed to God to save us and each day waited for an answer that didn’t come. For some, his silence was an indication that the end times were upon us.
While our innocence was painfully lost 4 years ago, our eyes are wide open now. It is only by remembering the mistakes of the past that we can ever hope to prevent such needless pain and suffering from reoccurring in the future.
