A Wandering Poet

Poem 1: A Wandering Poet If life is a journey, then I want to be a wandering poet. Wherever I go is home, as long as I look for the meaning to live. I may never find the answer but that’s OK, because I’m enriched in the process, getting to know life better. I keep a distance from the real world, as I don’t want to lose my true self. I’d rather be lonely and misunderstood, than be crippled by everyday stuff. Let me wander in any sense, physically, mentally or emotionally. Words are my best company, as I go on this journey spiritually. I want to be a wandering poet, following the compass of my heart only. Poem 2: The Road Home I’m on the road home, so excited yet so alone. Memories flash back again, I’m on my own. How many years has it been, since I left to pursue my dreams? And how many seasons have past, since I came home last? The road seems so short yet so long. Is this the way I came from? With every step I take, I’m nearer to my beloved hometown. Will I still remember the faces? Will I still recognise the places? I look to the stars above, that always guided me in the dark. Nostalgia is a book I read, whenever I cannot sleep. Thinking of the people at home, we’re looking at the same moon. Nostalgia is also a song I sing, filled with my deepest feelings. It’s that same old tune I know, that life keeps on playing. Tears are welling up in my eyes, on the road home. Telling everyone on the phone, “I’ll be home soon!” As I get closer to it, my longing grows stronger. It’s like a bottomless ocean, surrounded by endless rivers. So strange yet so familiar, I wonder where they are? Would they still know who I am? Or do we have to go back to the start? Nostalgia is a map I follow, leading me to doors of love. Because there’s no place I know, that will ever feel like home. Poem 3: The Sum of Life What’s the sum of a person’s life? Is it how much he’s lived it to the fullest? Or made his dreams come true? Or attained the worldly success? Is it how much wealth he’s gained? The value of the things he owns? Or the level of fame he’s reached, throughout his lifetime? Is it how well he’s fitted into the society, and leads a life just like the rest? Or how much he’s stood out, daring to be different to the crowd? Is it how hard he’s worked, whether it paid off or not? Or laying around contently, waiting for his luck to show up? Is it how attractive he is, an advantage he was born with? Or retain his so-called face, trying to look good at all cost? Is it how kind he’s treated others, even if they don’t reciprocate? Or looking for love everywhere, thinking soulmate is out there? Is it how careful he’s tried to be, to avoid bad luck and death? Or enjoyed the thrill of the moment, not caring about the expense? Is it how he’s realized his calling, doing his best to help the world? Or continue the way he has, and find out the meaning for himself? Poem 4: The Train of Time The Train of Time, leaving at nine. People hopped on to find, seats without a sign. They miss yesterday’s companion, who are gone today. But they know they’ll meet, new people every day. In each carriage on the train, people make all kinds of friends. Some would form their family, others would seek their romance. But they all leave it at that, and go about their own business. Until the moment their loved ones get off, they will truly know the feeling of regret. Are you waiting for an express, so you won’t be running late? But the traffic lights ahead of you, you still have to face. The train can change its service, stopping at different stations. You looked at your watch and sighed, why can’t the train be bloody on time? But the little boy sitting next to you, is admiring the sceneries outside. So why can’t you just sit still, and enjoy the wonders of life? Where is your next destination? Nobody can tell you that. But are you willing to slow down, and rest once in a while? Rest assured, if you miss The Train of Time today, there will still be one tomorrow. But how many times can you miss, in order to find your happiness and sorrow? Your luggage may change every day, your journey may not. So why don’t you take a leap of faith now, and let The Train of Time stop? Poem 5: You You are a mark, burnt within my heart. The only shadow I see, in my eyes forever. You’re a story in my life, repeating endlessly. The only voice I hear, around my ears. You’re a feeling I treasure, every day and night. A dream that I believe in, until the day I die. You’re a moment I cherish, with laughter and tears. A memory that I live in, reminiscing in bliss. You’re the only one I love, from here to eternity. And you’re the only one I miss, for as long as I live.
