Maybe you're reading this book because you’ve been everywhere and tried everything you can to clear up your skin issues. Maybe you've spent hundreds possibly thousands of dollars on treatments and products and your skin is still suffering from acne, aging, rashes, rosacea, melasma, hyperpigmentation, psoriasis or whatever other skin related issues that so many people are facing today. Why, when we have more information and more technology than ever, aren’t people finding answers and relief for their largest organ, the skin? In my career as an aesthetician, I have helped many people who were ready to give up, throw in the towel, some even suicidal from the pain and suffering that comes with problematic skin. I have held people in my arms that were crying from the frustration of years of trying to figure out why their skin won’t heal. I offered a new hope and a new approach to skin care, and it worked!
Being an Aesthetician in Los Angeles, for many years I have worked on lots people who had to have flawless skin. Actors, models, and high-profile clients led me to become a perfectionist when it came to treating my clients faces. I was determined to not just give temporary fixes, but long-term results. It only made sense to look at the root causes of problematic skin to help my clients finally find the answers to the skin issues they were facing. Beautiful skin is more than just vanity; it is a reflection of what is happening on the inside.
Most of us desire healthy, glowing skin with no wrinkles, no acne, no pigmentation, and no red, ruddy complexions. We want beautiful, healthy skin because it is a symbol of youth, vitality, and health. Some people will do anything to get great skin! They will peel it, burn it, laser it, scrub it, needle it, inject it, —and the list goes on for days.
I'm not saying that some of these things do not work but I can tell you from experience that NONE of these things will work long term if you do not have a healthy liver and healthy system. Our bodies are one system with many modalities. Hearing from clients that they are shocked that food, nutrition, or lifestyle have anything to do with skin is always baffling to me.
I’m sure there are many mornings when you wake up and look in the mirror and there is just no way that the reflection is you. You did not look like that yesterday! You’re puffy, your skin tone looks uneven, and you just don't look your best. How could your skin look that different in one day?
Then you realize that you ate a ton of sugar, gluten, and fat the day before. You had a few glasses of wine, and you were super stressed out.
That’s all it takes to fatigue your skin. What is really happening is your body's largest organ is working hard to get rid of all the toxins you accumulated from the food you ate, the hormones you produced from the stress, and the wine you drank. Not only that, but before bed you slathered chemical-laden creams all over your face and neck, thinking you were doing a good thing for your skin. In truth the cream put an even heavier toxic load on your body's main detox organs—your skin, liver, and kidneys.
Now imagine day after day and year after year in this type of lifestyle. Is it starting to click how this is a vicious cycle that millions of people are spinning around in day after day after day? Then when they have no improvement in their skin they are left frustrated and confused. The $300 cream they are using doesn’t seem to be working. Let’s give it a BREAK! Literally, let’s give our skin a break.
Our organs are overworked and can’t fight off the daily stressors when they are on overload. These stressors also affect our lives in many other ways besides our skin. So we are up against what we put in our body and what we put on our skin intentionally, on top of the involuntary, daily toxic burdens of everyday life.
Most of us do not have a lot of time to worry about what's in our food and body products. We just trust words like “natural,” “holistic,” and “preservative-free.” It’s a full-time job searching and reading labels to find foods and products that we can truly trust. If you take the time to get to know the brands and companies who are honest and have your well-being in mind, you not only support good people, but you get a product you can trust to put on yourself and your family.
This book is a very unconventional way of looking at skin. It’s about going back to the basics of what works for skin health. It’s about taking a look at what we automatically trust as the truth and questioning things we have been taught. I question all things and prove them to myself before I can trust them. I have always been that way since I was little. I have tried to put all the things together in this book that have proven to give relief and results to my clients for many years. Some things may actually shock you and may seem like the opposite of what you currently believe. These secrets of my close to twenty years of skin care come from seeing what actually works on clients, and using these beliefs time after time with incredible results. We are up against more than what people realize when it comes to invaders in our bodies. We have to protect ourselves from people looking to cash in on our trusting nature. Your $300 cream may just be contributing to the toxic load you are carrying and causing problems for your skin. Open up the trash can and throw it in there. That’s probably where it belongs!
