Seasons of the Soul

Spring training is a time for hope! Every fan has a fresh new outlook on their team. It’s a new season, a clean slate, and everyone has a chance. Sure, there are favorites going into every season. But every fan knows that anything can happen. And that’s why we get excited about opening day. It’s a new lease on life. I love spring training. Baseball season is right around the corner. My team, the San Francisco Giants, have a new beginning. Wouldn’t it be great if life were like that? Wouldn’t you get excited about a new beginning? Well, the Apostle Paul says “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creature; the old things have passed away; behold , new things have come. Now all things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Chriswt and gave us the ministry of reconciliation” 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 NASB That sounds great doesn’t it? You can be a new creation with a new heart, and a new nature. Life in the Spirit means a whole new season. It’s a significant breakthrough in the destination of your life. Richard Hamming wrote that any significant breakthrough for something new means a courageous break with the past. It requires “escape velocity” Escape velocity is the power it takes to break the pull of the earths gravitational pull. It takes momentum. The Holy Spirit provides that momentum, that escape velocity to break the pull of the past. A new season…A new beginnging...And exciting future
