About the Author

Ann Jamason is a retired Jungian psychotherapist and educator who blends the playful and profound into her classes and Sacred Circles. As an elder and wisdom teacher, she encourages others to add joy, understanding, grace, and balance to their own sacred paths. Fond of things that sparkle, Ann finds whimsy and magic nearly everywhere she goes. Ann recently moved from northern Colorado to Taos, New Mexico, where she plays, writes, prays, teaches, and celebrates life on the edge of an arroyo with her husband, three dogs, and four cats.

First let me say I enjoyed this book immensely, despite my gender. Or maybe it was in part, because of it. I was a little reluctant when I was asked to read it by my partner, but then read it out of respect for her opinion. I hoped that I might enjoy it, and I was also encouraged by there being a spiritual element to it. It was unmistakably written for women sharing common bonds of experiences both physically, spiritually, and experientially, but I got something else from it. I gained a better, more informed understanding of a woman’s personal journey through a male-established society with its challenges, preconceptions, and biases. I also found parallels to my own life when I’ve allowed the divine feminine to guide me – an interesting surprise. There were many common interests to me throughout the book regarding spirituality and historical perspective. Ann’s treatment of aging can apply to any of us growing older. Her attitude and advice toward being open to changes in one’s life and self, as nourishment for growth, were especially meaningful to me. I also gained a much-improved understanding of women as this author illustrated her own life’s journey with experiences unique and very different than mine. It challenged me and my self-analytical tendencies to look at what happens to us every day that may be the result of historical male dominance. I’m now gaining a better awareness of my own biases and unchallenged acceptance of the gender-based ways of our society. So, I’ve now been inspired to improve my listening and observational skills to better understand individual women as well as myself. This allows me to better appreciate those I love and know, and to consider the effects of the different journeys those I meet have taken. Thank you, Ann, for sharing your intimate, important, and inspired perspectives. I hope more men will read your book and make discoveries of their own.
