This is a story about Wholeness, a story about accepting power and recognizing possibility. It is written at the archetypal level where net worth and thousands of followers have no meaning. It offers a new paradigm for life and business. One that replaces the tale of fear in which we currently live; one that replaces the belief that life and work has to be a struggle.
Fragmentation and wholeness: It is especially important to consider this today, for fragmentation is now very widespread, not only throughout society, but also in each individual; and this is leading to a kind of general confusion of the mind, which creates an endless series of problems and interferes with our clarity of perception so seriously as to prevent us from being able to solve most of them. David Bohm, Wholeness and the Implicate Order
If you become whole, you will be full of Light. If you remain fragmented, darkness will fill you.
The Gospel of Thomas, Logion 61
Living in a fragmented state changes us. It changes how our hearts function, how our brains are wired; it changes our bodies. Most of us know this in terms of feeling overwhelmed and burned out. We know the words, but don’t really understand the impact on our lives, our work, and the people around us. And we have even less awareness of how it impacts our organizations.
We live with a “general confusion of our mind,” brought on by intensity, complexity, and fragmentation. Most of believe this is just the way it is . . . it will never change . . . head down, suck it up, and get through it. This is the driving masculine energy that has run our western world for millennia. This worldview has us analyzing and cutting everything to the smallest common denominator, reducing to smaller and smaller pieces, forgetting that Wholeness even exists.
The old system has such a strong grip, it operates nearly invisibly. It will take a leap of faith and willingness to find a new way to step out of it. Do you hear it? There is a call to Wholeness. People are beginning to long for a different way of being.
This book is written from a softer, more feminine energy. One that is more receptive and accepts and encourages intellectual curiosity and creativity. It allows for integrating instead of fragmenting.
In fact, integrated within our story is the literature from many fields of study with special emphasis on the ideas of physicist, David Bohm.
We need to begin to step out of all this mania, to soothe our cells and release the stored trauma from our lives. We need to be more centered and allow more rest. From this place of deeper peace, we become gathered in our hearts. We expand our ability to see patterns and anticipate obstacles. Receptivity is the opposite of the typical driving, pushing mode we have all been taught.
Our story begins in a hypermanic world of work where the only criterion for success is money, even as we sacrifice our relationships, our health, and our planet. This is a fictional account of a nonfiction process. Part one is a story of transformation, first individually and then as an organization. Part two offers a more analytical version of the process and the resources we used.
This story considers a reality of coherence and order, where interconnection is primary, and our decisions and actions have the profound impact we intend. One where science and creativity come together to bring out our best selves. Where we can take the time to work for our common good, incorporating our communities and allowing Wholeness to reemerge.
In the Appendixes, you will find some of our favorite resources, an outline of the process discovered by Gertrude and Laura, and a glossary of terms.
This story is written from the heart, where Wholeness already resides. We have been trained to see our hearts as weak and have learned to cut ourselves off from our emotions. We have been taught to be fearful of our heart’s wisdom. And yet, our hearts have no fear of our minds, with no need to cut out our capacity to think. Our hearts hold wisdom, look for interconnection, and are able to integrate our knowledge, experience, and training.
We invite you to stay in your heart, allowing the deepest meaning of our story to emerge. We invite you to suspend and allow a new perspective.

Many of you may laugh, as you realize this story to be a fairy tale . . . but there is truth and power in myth.
Our story is short. It is also powerful.
There are no dragons, but there are demons.
There are no unicorns, but there is a talking dog.
Where lessons are learned through wonderous elixir. And problems are solved, but not with three wishes. And not everyone lives happily ever after.
Or do they?
Written in storybook fashion, underpinned by David Bohm’s understanding of Undivided Wholeness and Dialogue, our story is a shared account that reveals what it means to accept each other as legitimate human beings.
This is a tale of transformation. And a new way of being. A story about two women who learn to see, and in so doing, discover a world of joy and beauty. But not without the often-perilous path of self-discovery. It is also about an organization that learns to listen, to be inclusive and act from Wholeness. It’s a shero’s journey, into the world of chaos and fragmentation, which transforms into color and light through courage, clarity, and intention.
