Shhhhh!
Stand still
Listen…
What’s that sound?
The sound of Peace,
Freedom,
Democracy?
It’s our place
GodZone (God’s Own)
A place of privilege
We have rights
We wear them like we earned them
But NO!
They did the hard yards
Back in the day
Women protested for their right to vote
For equal rights and equal pay
Strong beliefs creating change
Who fights now?
I don’t know
What’s his name?
You Know?
That councillor dude
Old So and So
Shhhhhh!
Listen!
What’s that sound?
Peace?
Freedom?
Apathy!

About the Author
DORZ MARSHALL is a freelance writer and poet based on Auckland’s North Shore. Hairdresser extraordinaire for thirty plus years, Dorz took a leap of faith and embarked on a tertiary journey. Two Degrees later she joined the ranks of the corporate world. Five years hence ‘Redundancy’ has opened new ‘Doors for Dorz’. Her poetry reflects her perceptions of our ‘Crazy World’.
