You know that serendipitous moment when an idea pops in your head from out of the blue and you feel it is somehow so right? That is how My Paris Story came to life. It was a lightbulb moment as I was sitting in the second gathering for the Paris Women of Success MeetUp group I created in the Spring of 2013. As the women were introducing themselves I was so touched by the amazing stories and the beauty of each and every woman in the room, I knew I had to find a way to help at least some of them share their stories with the world. The idea of a book that pulled together each woman’s inspiring journey was divinely planted in my brain and I ran with it!
I enthusiastically said to the group that it would be wonderful to create a collaborative book together and that I would gather details and send them out to everyone before the next monthly meeting. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but it felt so right. Françoise Bor De Ley was the first brave soul to say yes to herself and to sharing her message and I love her dearly for that. Her “yes” gave me the spark to bring the project to life.
Summer was on its way and people’s minds were on vacation, sunshine, rest and relaxation so admittedly my timing could have been better and yet, one by one the authors began to show up and by the time we reached “La Rentree” (back to school season in France), My Paris Story was truly taking shape. Paris was the magnificent backdrop for each of our stories and yet each woman’s story was uniquely hers in how she used Paris as an inspiration to follow her dreams, to gain new insights or to grow in unexpected, life alteringly beautiful ways.
As the stories began to come in, I would often begin to cry as I read through them because they were so honest, so open and so real. It is a true privilege for me to be able to play a part in helping each of these amazing women share her journey, her dreams and her message.
I believe I can speak for all of the authors when I say that we hope our stories will shine a light on your own dreams and inspire you to live, love and take a leap. You don’t have to go to Paris to make things happen, you just have to go to the place within you where your joy is found and then follow that feeling to wherever it may take you!
