You must enjoy what you do. It is really quite immaterial what line of work you are in, or whether you work at home as a parent, run your own business or work for an employer of some kind. If you're not having fun, you need to make changes. I understand the attitude that some folks have that they simply cannot forego the great pay they receive or the benefits they are entitled to or even the pension they will eventually enjoy. I even understand that they may have dedicated much of their adult lives to developing the necessary skills,ability and education for their current job and, as a result, feel that turning back is not an option. However, I also firmly believe that to be stuck in a role that you are not happy with is not a healthy situation, nor is it worth the money and the benefits.
Life is too short to spend so much of it being unhappy. Forget what other people think or what they want. They don't have to be comfortable in your skin, but you do. As Will Rogers said "Too many people spend money they haven't earned to buy things they don't need to impress people they don't like"...... Having fun and enjoying what you do is so often a matter of having the right attitude and the right approach to all things. We have all heard references to folks who see the glass as half full and those who see the glass as half empty. Which are you?

About the Book
Leadership is not a role reserved for presidents, prime ministers, and CEOs. About the Author
Garth has spent close to forty years in senior leadership roles in healthcare and municipal services. He has also worked and consulted in the private sector. When combined with his BA, MBA, and diplomas in coaching, conflict management and applied organizational development, he has developed a deep understanding of the nature of the workplace as well as the attributes of the leaders working there. He has also done extensive personal research and speaks regularly at conferences and workshops on the nature of leadership.
Garth has written two books on the topic of leadership and has this to say about leadership for any of us:
