When Camilla was brushing her teeth that evening, however, she realized that her heart was aching even more than it had before her friends had come over. This awareness made Camilla feel very unsettled, and she was unsure where to turn.
“What could possibly be wrong with me?” she wondered. Almost at the same moment this question arose, Camilla heard the little sound again, coming from down the hallway. It seemed a bit louder than the night before. She tiptoed toward the room and pressed her ear up against the closed door.
Every few seconds, there was a bit of muted music, like tiny bells jingling on the tips of elves’ slippers. Camilla was curious. What could it be behind this closed door making such an inviting sound? At the same time, Camilla was frightened of opening the door, knowing that she hadn’t looked in there in years. She didn’t even remember what was hidden in the room—certainly nothing she needed. Or so she thought.
Slowly, cautiously, Camilla inched the door open. Moonlight shone through the window and illuminated an old wooden chest. On the top of it, something moved slightly, and the bells gave out another tinkle. Camilla walked slowly toward the sound, still not certain of its source. “Oh my goodness,” she exclaimed as she got closer. “It’s my old music box.”

About the Author
Paige Stirling Fox is a life coach and facilitator of numerous personal growth and spiritual programs and
workshops. She believes in the power of circles of women and has created and led many programs, including
Women Circling the Earth, a year-long retreat and coaching program; and Breathing Space, circles for women who have survived cancer.
Paige earned an honours degree in psychology and a certificate in adult education, and she has completed coach training with Coach U.
She is a Reiki master and a certified labyrinth facilitator.
Paige currently works as an early literacy specialist and lives with her husband and two children in Ontario, Canada.
