The Elijah Oliver place was a log cabin built on a stone foundation. It was special because a part of the cabin was actually built over a small stream. That stream made that part of the house cool which made it so they could store eggs, butter, milk and other foods in the cold. While they explored the outside, Liam counted six chickens eating in the yard.

About the Book
This is a story where Mountain Mouse explores a little history at the National Park site called Cades Cove with her great nephew Liam. While exploring she encourages Liam to count various things they see. Even though Liam believed he could not count, he was happy and confident when Mountain Mouse showed him that he had been counting all day!
