As a human on any path, space and grace is required of each of us to heal and grow. Not everyone has the same degree of spaciousness within their lives, but it is essential to cultivate space for oneself to know himself/herself. It is not possible to deeply know ourselves if we constantly seek information, validation, and direction from our external world. Constant busyness can be a distraction from personal and Divine connection as well.
After all, we are called “human beings,” not “human doings”. Yet we can be very challenged with allowing ourselves to slow down and “just be.” Many people experience loneliness and discomfort when we must spend time alone. We are each the common denominator within our lives, so it is necessary to get comfortable with oneself and become our own greatest companion. It certainly makes life more delightful when we like ourselves, or better yet, love ourselves, and enjoy our own company.
It takes space to heal. Patience and curiosity for ourselves is required as we dive into our inner landscape to discover and resolve old hurts, faulty belief systems, dysfunctional and disempowering patterns, traumas and more. There are times when we act out of alignment because we have felt afraid, hurt, and/or disconnected. I invite you to recognize when this happens and to give oneself grace. When we meet ourselves where we are, with understanding, patience, compassion, acceptance, and unconditional love, it is easier to offer the same to others.
The process of transformation you are experiencing or will undergo is sacred. It is very personal and can be painful. This is your rebirth. You will heal and unite with parts of you that have been lost, ignored, abandoned, or betrayed. Through this growth portal you will become a version of you which did not exist before. Space and time to incubate will be essential; like the caterpillar in the chrysalis, before the butterfly emerges to be seen in all its glory. In this space, you will get very close to God. Not everyone in your life can be there for this metamorphosis, because they may not understand. Many are not ready for this level of renovation. Like with a newborn baby, new parents carefully discern who gets to visit and hold their precious infant. Give yourself the space to honor yourself and your needs as you go through the changes.
Creating space for yourself allows you to listen to the voice and messages of your soul and highest self. Clarity comes from sitting in the stillness. The answers seem to arise from within. When we trust ourselves, we know what to do and how to live. Most everything we want from the external world must be found from within ourselves first. Most want love, support, respect, forgiveness, trust, and more from others. Where are you at with yourself on those things?
When you deeply love, support, respect, forgive, and believe in yourself, you will attract people and situations that align. Anything that is not congruent will feel misaligned, and you will be able to trust yourself to know the difference. Not everyone and every situation is for you, so you can turn away from those not for your highest good. You will also feel more complete and may no longer need to fulfill those desires from outside yourself.
It is imperative to create enough space within yourself and your life to flow with your natural rhythms. This looks different for everyone. Some are morning people or are night owls; need a lot of time in nature; desire a lot of time alone; must have a clean house before starting on a project; etcetera. Things go more smoothly on all levels when we are in a flow state that feels organic.
We have been conditioned from the time we were young to do what others expect of us, rather than finding and honoring our own way. Expectations to please others; ignore our needs and desires; push down our unique talents and gifts; and so on, prevents us from discovering our own truth. The ideal is to know, speak and live personal truth, rather than blindly adopting what has been impressed upon us. Even as you read this book, I encourage you to decide what resonates with you. What I share has worked for me and the many clients I have had the honor of assisting. Tune into your own heart and soul to see what resonates and feels right for you.
Openness is also an aspect of space. How can we experience spaciousness if we are tightly wound and bound? A willingness not to know the answers and space for limitless discovery is beneficial. It also allows the grace of God to enter ourselves and our lives, which makes all things possible. Being open is like opening the windows to allow fresh air and sunshine in. Life is rather mysterious and magical when we surrender and allow it to flow.
Often, it is necessary to eliminate activities and people from our lives that waste time and/or drain our energy. It requires one to choose him or herself first. Many are challenged with this notion, but it is essential to honor oneself to make space for what is to come. It is not selfish to take care of ourselves. It allows more capacity to help others.
In the end, it is between you and God. If you are in alignment with your highest self and God, all is well. If you are not in alignment within, it will be reflected back to you like a mirror through people, experiences, and life circumstances. While sometimes difficult, it is the perfect feedback loop. It does not matter how things look on the outside, what is most important is how it feels on the inside. Your body has incredible wisdom, and when you connect and live within it, it offers guidance through felt sense. If we bring our heart and mind into calm coherence, we experience clarity, which is the perfect compass. Our internal resonance shifts our external world. We can be in the world, but not of the world.
