About the Book

The story is a magical introduction to Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. The symbols, apples, honey and raisins stand for the sweetness of one’s year. The c”hallah” for Rosh Hashanah is round with raisins to represent the roundness of the cycle of the year. It wouldn’t be a story without children discovering how to work together in the most positive manner. The book sparkles and glitters as young children begin to embrace their Jewish New Year.

About the Author

Back in 2001, I was very involved with Hadassah Medical Organization as a young leader. Because of my background as an elementary educator, I was a natural fit to lead the local Training Wheels group. In addition, my daughter, Hillary, and her friends were just the right age for the program. Training Wheels was a wonderful program that taught young Jewish children about the different Jewish holidays through crafts, music, and stories. A story about Rosh Hashanah rapidly came to me as I typed it. The holiday symbols, as well as my nieces and nephews, are portrayed in this book in quite a magical way. I revised the story several times. I always loved the story, but I wanted it worded in a more child-friendly manner. For many years, the rewording would not come to me. During early February of 2017, I went to a spa for a day of pampering that turned out to be quite interesting. To make a long story short, a medium was there. She said my grandfather came into the room. His message to me was “You will regret it if you do not keep writing.” I was assuming it was my other book I am presently writing. To be honest, I have not been in a writing mood lately. The very next day, my teacher friend asked me to read a children’s book she had just written. I said sure, and I then printed my story for her to read. Something within reignited my spark. I don’t know where rhyming lines came from, but they flowed through me like magic. I rewrote the entire story in two days. The only reason it took so long to finish is because my fingers wouldn’t move faster. Please enjoy a magical Rosh Hashanah tale that is sure to become a family tradition. The holiday symbols come to life while the characters learn a very important lesson. In case you were wondering, Hillary Hallah is my daughter. The other characters are her first cousins. This book is perfect for children ranging from five and a half to eight years of age. Let the legacy begin as I lovingly remember my mom and dad, Nana Susan and Papa Stuart Levet. We all love and miss you very much.
