"...She had just gotten settled in when she heard a shuffle and, turning her left eye in the direction of the noise, she saw a meerkat. Meerkat looked at Chameleon and looked at the tree, once, twice, three times. “Hey, weren’t you just a different color?” He quickly questioned. “Yes,” replied Chameleon rolling her eyes, “I was blue/green and now I am grey.” “You change color? What is wrong with you?” Meerkat questioned with a tilt of his head and his eyebrow raised. Chameleon sighed. She didn’t know what to say. Her stomach started to hurt worse – she wasn’t hungry at all now. Now she just felt confused and ashamed. Why did she change color? It just happened; she didn’t even have to think about it. It always just felt right. “I don’t know why I change color, I just do! I don’t always feel one way or another. Right now I feel grey. It’s the way I am! I can’t explain it…I really wish I could…” she replied with a sad tone. “Well,” stated Meerkat, as he looked around nervously, “I think you should just try to stay one color. Others like it better if you are just one way. You make me feel nervous when you change…” and with that he was off running, tail up, back into the bush, fearful of getting caught out in the open..."

About the Book
Counselor Adrianne Wagner, MA, NCC, takes you and your child on a journey with Creative Chameleon, who learns to trust herself as she encounters several teachers on her path to self-acceptance. About the Author
Adrianne Wagner, MA, is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) who specializes in personal transformation, grief, and loss. She has worked with adults, families and at-risk children for over 18 years. She currently works at HopeWest & Hospice, facilitating the Equine Assisted Counseling program “Healing with Horses,” and in private counseling practice at BLOOM Counseling Services. She is a member of the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA), the National Alliance for Grieving Children (NAGC) and she also volunteers her time at an area hospital in the “No One Dies Alone” (NODA) program. She has published articles in Living with Loss Magazine and Elephant Journal. Adrianne loves to spend her free time in the gorgeous Colorado outdoors with her supportive husband, their two sweet daughters, 11 sassy chickens, and their always hungry dogs, all of whom keep her thoroughly entertained and enlightened.
