1.7 Doors to Rhema: Surrender to God, Quiet Moments, Reducing Ego “Noise” Sheila: What I noticed, Sir Apin and sisters, what is common among rhema practitioners is the surrender of one's life to the Creator—telling Him to take over and letting go of the self to dominate in one's life, and recognition that on our own, we can't live life as He designed it to be. We also need to find time to be quiet to hear His Voice and the courage to obey even if it is seemingly difficult to understand or we think we are not able to do it. Because the Lord is a super gentleman, He will only participate in your life if you allow Him to, and most times, we need to remind ourselves every day that we have surrendered to the Lord. Mitch: Hi Shiela, God is really with us already. It is us who move away. It is us who need to recognize Him. Sheila: Yes Mitch. He sends signs through His creation but in most cases, we are just too busy to hear Him or just too jaded from hearing other competing "voices.” Mitch: Yes. That is the importance of quiet moments—mindfulness practice—to redirect our focus. It works well! Sheila: I think one major concern is to discern His Voice from the many voices around. But in time and with intimacy with Him, you will know if that is Him. If I am not sure if it is Him that I hear, I pray for confirmation. Sometimes, He gives biblical verses to confirm, sometimes other people, sometimes through nature. Serafin: The source of "noise" is our ego. It comes in when we are asking something for ourselves. But if we pray for someone we love the ego "noise" is less. Another solution is group rhema where a group will pray and ask for the same thing. Then group members compare what each received. The common answer is it. This is what happens during "two-way prayer" by a group. Mitch had been wanting to try this out. Sheila: I have not tried this but would like to try.
