The purpose of this book is to share with you what my ongoing journey of believing, changing, and becoming can teach you about your desires, dreams, goals, and, most importantly, your life. I want to share with you that if you desire to create a beautiful life, you need to choose beautiful thoughts, beliefs, words, and actions. I want to continue to inspire you to believe in your dreams and to pursue your purpose. But I also want to remind you that everything you seek to become, you already are; nothing outside of you will bring you joy if joy is not within you. You are beautiful, perfect, whole, and complete. Personal growth is about soul connection. Growth only happens when you realize that you suffer because you have forgotten who you are and why you are here.
In this book, I will acknowledge that life is challenging, but when you are open to learn the lessons life brings to you, life becomes beautiful again. Life is always whispering in your ear to go with the current and never against it. I will share with you that to enjoy the journey of life, you must savor and embrace the valleys, as well as the peaks of life, because beauty is also in the valleys. Yes, in this book I will teach you how to persevere in the grueling climb to the peak of your mountain, but I will also remind you that life is about more than reaching the peak; it is also about staying present and loving the journey. The universe, your source, your God always has your back. I want to help you overcome the challenges of your life, accomplish all of your dreams and goals, and love the journey of life as you believe, change, and become.
In the last five years, I experienced several types of losses and lessons learned, but always stumbled upon joy. To live through the pandemic, I had to let go of certainty and embrace the unknown. To continue the journey of believing, changing, and becoming I had to remember who I am and why I am here. I had to remember that I had to be unapologetic about what was right for me. I learned that it is okay to say, "no," to things that did not align with my desires, dreams, or goals. Being the designer of your life can be a lonely and uncertain journey, but if you trust your inner voice, follow your intuition, and surrender to the universe and let it guide you, you will get to your destination.
For five years, my passion of reminding others of their purpose took the forms of personal coaching, group presentations, podcasts, blogs, and educational programs, especially for mothers, as well as my own continued personal growth. Now I am ready to share with you additional lessons I have learned that can help you have a more satisfying and fulfilling life.
What comes to your mind when you think about life? Perhaps you wonder about the meaning of life or about how to define success in life? The meaning of life is not happiness. You are alive now to be reminded about who you are and what you are made of. It is up to you to make your life good or bad; you make it good or bad by what you believe about yourself and about the world. You exist on this planet to enjoy the simple joys of life, but also to persevere during the lows and hardships of life. When you understand that you are a strong, wise, perseverant human being, you become connected to your true essence. You know how to overcome the challenges of life. You may be tempted to try and control life; I want to encourage you to always go with the flow of life. Apply change to the things you can change but surrender what you cannot change. Trust that life may have a better plan for you that will make you strong and help you soar.
It is my belief that those who question the meaning of life are trying to understand what their purpose is; they want to know why they exist. Those who have these questions about their existence are seeking a meaningful, fulfilling life. Unfortunately, meaning and fulfillment are not easily defined. Some are also seeking success. Success is also hard to define as there are many different opinions about what success is. The only person that can define your success is you.
Success for some is having a distinguished career, wealth, and the respect and admiration of others. Success for others may be having meaningful, strong relationships; being active and healthy; and making a difference in other people’s life.
A meaningful life is a broad construct having to do with the purpose, significance, fulfillment and satisfaction of life. A meaningful life can include strong relationships with friends and family. Enjoying your job or living your purpose can contribute to a fulfilled life. Being healthy in body, mind, and spirit can bring satisfaction to your life. Fulfillment in life can be having a peaceful and calming home. Trust that the universe is a friendly place and understand that the universe will help you find meaning and fulfillment.
Happiness is overrated and hard to maintain, but joy can be found in the present moment in the simple pleasures of life. It is important that we do not confuse joy with success. You can be joyful drinking your favorite cup of coffee and that is in no way connected to success. Happiness should never be the goal of life. Yes, you will experience happy times, but those will come and go. The idea that we must be happy to be fulfilled is absurd. A life well-lived should include, but not be limited, to a life of your design. Being successful in life means having a vision of what you desire for your life and working towards that vision. True success in life is defined by you. Nobody should dictate what your life should be, not even your parents. And please do not define your children’s happiness. What inspires me in others are those individuals who have made a promise with their soul that they would seek a life that reminded them of their most authentic selves. Those who can define what a successful life looks like for them are on their way to a fulfilled life. Again, just as there is no right way to be successful in life, having a significant and fulfilled life is a matter of opinion. What you seek to feel fulfilled and complete may not apply to others.
