The Proud Rebel The wind must blow against the tide The dawn of history says so You are the reason why I sing Emotional heartbeats flutter in rhyme I see the roses in the yard Blooming fabulously without hesitation The blue skies and the mountains roar I shall ride the wave all the way to pleasant dreams But don't cry for me just yet Behold the beauty of the world and its many flaws I am wearing my naked skin Like a prayer in the air I am the captain who sails the wild seas Even when things are bad I smile anyway I smile because I am blessed I smile because I am free The sun will always shine somewhere I feel the spirit within me.

About the Author
Monique Renee Trotter was born in Citrus Heights, California. She hopes to reach people with her deepest revelations, innermost thoughts, and greatest hopes. Writing poetry is her passion, and she has three other books out as well: A Mindful Awakening, My Poetry Speaks, and Killing Me Softly with a Poet's Song. Monique definitely wants her voice to be heard. She also loves to read poetry. Her favorite poets are Sylvia Plath, Maya Angelou, and William Shakespeare. Poetry is music to her ears.
