Retail Focus for Children's Books

Display your authored children’s book where it can reach more readers interested in your work. Balboa Press’s Retail Focus for Children’s Books can help extend your promotional reach by pitching your book to independent bookstores across the United States.

In today’s publishing climate, the shelf space in brick-and-mortar bookstores continue to get smaller for competing traditionally published titles, let alone self-published ones. Self-published authors also operate at a significant disadvantage, as bookstores favor celebrated authors. Literary content, sales potential, and returnability are just a few of the elements that bookstores will take into account before displaying a self-published title.

You need a solid marketing plan and tenacity to have your book sold in independent bookstores. This is where Balboa Press Retail Focus for Children’s Books can help your book land onto bookstore shelves.

Balboa Press’s Retail Focus for Children’s Books helps published authors like you promote your book to independent bookstores across the country through a strategic combination of print ads on two publications well-known to booksellers and a focused pitch to bookstores across the country.

This service includes:

  • Your book, pitched to 25 independent bookstores across the US over the span of three months, using a customized sales kit
  • A single-slot print ad in Ingram’s Children’s Advance Catalog
  • A single-slot print ad in the quarterly publication of ForeWord Magazine
  • The Booksellers Return Program for 12 months
  • A guarantee that at least 2 of the bookstores/retailers will agree to test your book
