Prologue - Why This Book Exists This book exists because something important is happening quietly, without ceremony, and often without language to describe it. It is present in everyday decisions, communication, learning, and creativity. Yet while the speed and capability of these systems continue to grow, our understanding of how to live with them has not kept the same pace. Most conversations about this shift focus on power, efficiency, risk, or control. They ask what artificial intelligence will replace, automate, or outperform. It seen in the future as a competition, a threat, or a technological race. What is discussed far less often is something more subtle and more foundational: continuity. How do human cognition and artificial cognition coexist without one destabilizing the other? How do meaning, responsibility, and identity persist when intelligence is no longer singular? This book does not attempt to predict the future. It does not propose solutions in the form of products, policies, or technical architectures.
