Some of the earliest depictions of yoga positions and their meanings are hidden in plain sight on the temple walls in ancient Egypt (Kemet) in North East Africa. Di Ankh: the Science of Kemetic Yoga is a provocative exploration pivoting one’s focus to the little known origins of the practice of yoga as physical and spiritual modalities deeply rooted in the ancient African region called Kemet and Kush.
About the Author
Born in Pennsylvania, Gaile C. Ferguson grew up with loving parents and a mother that enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family. Having that wonderful memory of her young childhood, Gaile’s creative side in culinary arts blossomed. She is an excellent cook, dabbling with some vegetarian meals that may make you forget you’re a meat eater. Travel and the study of cultures in faraway places is another passion of Gaile’s. In 2012, while traveling and visiting with a dear friend in the Pacific Northwest, she brought with her, the newest love interest, a camera. It was in the city of Seattle, Washington that she captured the first photo that gave her the inspiration and courage to pursue photography and independent film studies. In 2013, while holding down a full-time job, and co-parenting five children, Gaile pursued photography and independent film studies while attending night classes at the Community College of Southern Nevada. Pursuing her interest in culture, Gaile Ferguson’s two trips to Kemet (Egypt) ignited in her a love of ancient Kemetic history and Kemetic Yoga. Empowered by the history, specifically the 18th to 20th Dynasties, and captured by the architecture that remains today, she was inspired to write and direct the documentary Di Ankh: The Science of Kemetic Yoga (2022), her freshman film. Gaile’s company, Captured by Sacred Film and Photography, partnered with Ellis Rice of Blusoul Productions LLC, the editor and producer of the film. Di Ankh: The Science of Kemetic Yoga is about living your best life. “Captured By Sacred Film and Photography is an infusion of my interests, my innate talents and passions,” said Gaile. “It is through this expression that I find my truth and create my peace. It is my divine honor to share this part of my creativity with intention to uplift and inspire.” Gaile resides in Nevada with her children and grandchildren.
