7-1 What is Spiritual Amnesia?
If you have ever felt that there is something more to life—a deeper purpose or truth just beyond your reach, yet you are unsure of what it is or how to find it—this feeling often stems from what we call spiritual amnesia. Imagine waking up in a room with no memory of how you got there or who you are. You might feel lost, looking around and trying to make sense of your surroundings. This is what spiritual amnesia feels like on a soul level; it’s the forgetting of our true Divine nature, purpose, and connection to a greater awareness.
When we are born—especially during our early years up to around age seven—we maintain a deep connection to the Divine Life Force. Some souls may even carry memories of past life experiences. During this time, many of us possess extrasensory abilities and remain closely attuned to our true essence.
However, as we grow older, particularly after those formative years, we often begin to lose this connection amid increasing distractions. The overwhelming influx of information from social media and the pressures of societal conditioning intensify the amnesia, leading us to forget who we truly are. Consequently, many of us begin to shift our attention outward—focusing on academic pursuits, careers, relationships, and material achievements. Various pressures, societal expectations, and life's challenges create layers of energy that can obscure our Divine connection. As a result, many of us become increasingly absorbed by the physical world, the roles we play, and ego-driven desires—leading to a disconnection from our deeper essence and a true sense of Self.
Spiritual amnesia can manifest in many ways. One might feel a deep sense of emptiness or inner dissatisfaction, even after reaching significant milestones of worldly or material success. Questions like “Why am I here?” or “Is there more to life than this?” often bubble to the surface. Signs of spiritual amnesia include feeling disconnected from our intuition or relying heavily on external validation, leading us to live on autopilot and simply go through the motions of daily routines. This disconnection can make life feel shallow, as if we're just coasting along without truly living.
So, why do we experience this amnesia? In its purest form, Super-Consciousness is infinite, without boundaries or contrast, making it difficult to know itself without differentiation. To interact with itself, it creates experiences that also include illusions of separation and limitation, fragmenting into different perspectives and realities, as explained in previous chapters. For these experiences to feel real, the fractals of consciousness undergo different levels of forgetting their true nature as fragments of Super-Consciousness—each playing the roles of the scriptwriter, actor, and observer.
Much like watching a movie without knowing its ending, this process allows for deep immersion and discovery. Every soul has a unique journey. When a soul forgets its Divine nature, there will be experiences and catalysts to guide it on the journey of exploration and self-rediscovery. Awakening happens when we start to question our identity and origin, eventually realizing that we were never truly separate.
This awakening journey is an integral part of the human experience. As previously discussed in relation to the Grand Experiment of Super-Consciousness, it’s similar to playing video games—each with different levels and challenges, designed to explore infinite possibilities and expand consciousness. In this Cosmic game of evolution, brave souls willingly take on the challenge of navigating a high-stakes journey of spiritual amnesia through the cycle of reincarnation. We test our ability to see beyond the illusions and distractions of this “simulated matrix”, all while striving to rediscover our Divine nature. Each soul embarks on this journey with the ultimate goal of breaking free from the shackles of spiritual amnesia. In essence, we are souls yearning to awaken—seeking transformation, enlightenment, and the realization of deeper Truths about our existence.
It is essential to recognize that remaining in this state of forgetfulness for too long can trap us in cycles of reincarnation and feelings of being lost. This is why spiritual (or soul) awakening is so crucial. It serves as the antidote to spiritual amnesia; it invites us to turn inward, reminding us that beneath the noise of daily life lies a profound stillness where our true essence resides.
Embracing this awakening journey leads us “Home”—helping us remember who we truly are and reconnect with our Higher Self. It is essential for our spiritual evolution, as it serves as the catalyst that helps us begin to exit the cycle of rebirth. In the remainder of this chapter, we will explore the depths of spiritual awakening, uncovering the wisdom and insights that will guide you through this transformative process.
