It was almost like he heard her! As soon as she said it he started grinning, a grin that put the Grinch's mischievous smile to shame! I tried to look away, to be uninterested but Talia had other plans. She was already lost in those swirling chocolatey eyeballs shining back at us! She used this lost moment of mine to try and push through! My Dad must have noticed because he had everyone clear out. Shit, she almost got out too. I must be weaker than I thought because I almost lost control. It took me a minute to get her completely under control again but she was not happy about it. It’ll probably be the silent treatment from her for a while. Come to think of it, aside from that absurd outburst of hers, she has been pretty quiet given what is going on. She is usually so snarky and opinionated. The doctor told me I could shower as soon as the nurse came in to help me. Help me? With what I wondered. It was not until all the chaos settled that I noticed it. My leg was in a cast, the bandage on my neck and the burning under it. Oh haha… and the huge, now closing, gash across my ribs. I couldn’t move. This whole time I had not truly tried but I couldn’t. “Paralyzed?” I pondered out loud, but as I voiced my fear out loud the nurse was walking in. Boy was I glad to see her. I needed answers and my Dad, nor that beautiful yet scary man in the corner were giving anything to me straight. Just half answers from Dad, and smirks and chuckles from that dark corner. That dark corner with just his eyes and smile shining in the light from over my bed. “No, not permanently.” She answered my question, snapping me back to the matter at hand. He stepped out of the shadowy corner and left the room with my dad. He is bigger than I thought. My mouth almost watered as the scent wafted from him passing me on their way out.“Ugh, pay attention!" Talia snapped, obviously annoyed with me, “Oh so not the silent treatment?", I teasingly asked her. She snapped at me again but not like an annoyed big sister, this time she sounded like a concerned mother.“No time for pettiness now! I'll not say it again. PAY ATTENTION! It’s important.” She repeated before tucking herself away in a small corner of my mind to watch.

About the Author
For a woman who has been through a great deal of heartbreak and betrayal reading became an escape from the mundane and the trials of everyday life. A mother of four wonderful children, divorced and trying to work through another relationship by the age of 30. With no official work experience and having not been able to continue her education after high school, she turned to something she loved once again! Having already been fascinated by and having a strong belief in the spiritual possibilities of life, she began to write! She used it all to create characters and a story that she thought might help others find their escape and find hope for something better, despite hardships!
