YELLOW BRICK ROAD Before The Sunrise - I got up at four in the morning To philosophise about truth and honesty It led me to a world of despair The one I couldn’t bare The one I hardly hear It really was one in the morning That led me to two paths To see love and hate I’ve grown to choose love I’ve flown to those like a dove I lay down at three in the morning With a smile upon my face Thinking that I may have found my place But at four in the morning Is where my thoughts found solace in the silence Beneath The Surface - I can’t hide who I am To please the soul, you show The truth is in my eyes, that you fail to see I can’t hide the way I feel To gratify the skin, you show Into these honest arms, you fail to feel All I had were dreams that never became real Faded Dreams - I lived in memories that I loved Never to regret the things that I've done For what a man is, is but a sum of all the things All the things, all the people that made him whole From an early age, I felt the world's pain In my soul, I am one of a kind; to be kind I loved in memories that I lived Scattered Pieces - Blank pages, empty spaces Lights on where the darkness resides Read between the lines a thousand times Life is never as it seems Took a fall down the stairs Who is there to pick up the pieces Scattered like a bunch of Reece’s Slow To Speak - Slow to speak I creep before I walk When I run, I must be sure For I never mean to cause trouble At every turn, I fumble An open mind, an open table A book of kind and candour Read my pages slowly Boldly stare into my soul A Flicker of Light - A whisper in my ear But there's no one around Flashes before my eyes Memories playing out loud Time never seemed more precious Travelled to the past in years gone Lessons I’ve learned as a man Give with no fear A sound in a dark room There I sit alone Cherished every moment Displayed on the wall like murals Of a picture so risqué Words of a friend in the past Lessons I’ve learned as a man Enjoy life as it happens A voice in a vacuum But there lies a vast nothingness Stars aflame one by one Creating a galaxy of thoughts Weaving good and bad together Experiences for the future Lessons I've learned as a man Love freely
