Natural Thinking May 25
"He who has control over his nature is the more natural. He is the master of nature."
- Hazrat Inayat Khan
Common belief tells us that our circumstances make us either happy or unhappy. When things go our way, we are joyous. When they don't, we’re miserable. But what if we have it backwards? When we understand that we are co-creators of our experience, we learn that satisfaction and happiness come before the pleasing events of our lives, and attract them. Conversely, self-pity and defeatism draw conditions to us that support those beliefs. When we allow our thinking to be only reactive, we ignore the Truth that it is also creative.
For most of us, it takes diligence to habitually choose optimism. Our persistent leanings toward negative, default thinking can derail our efforts to create ourselves anew. But when we choose to master our nature, relying on Spirit to reinforce that decision, a fresh viewpoint takes over. We begin to experience True Power to create the lives of our dreams. We discover that we really are magnets for experiences that reflect our thinking.
Behind the world of our five senses is the world of Spirit. When we access and live from this world, we find a wellspring of Joy previously unknown. Our job is to see through the veil of appearance to the Truth of our being, and operate from that higher vantage point.
Like looking out from a mountain top, we gain a much broader and more pleasing horizon. Likewise, we can cultivate an expanded mental horizon by choosing to train our thoughts to the positive. Once we grow accustomed to that viewpoint, we find it a most natural way to be.
Divine Conspiracy June 17
"The impulse toward the Divine is cellular."
- Neale Donald Walsch
We, as members of the human family, have always demonstrated a deep desire to believe in a Power Greater than we are. It spans every culture and generation of our species. The conviction that there must be an unseen Life is cellular — built into our very DNA. Since before recorded time, people have depended upon this Energy, Goodness, and Supply, which is beyond our own. The personality or attributes of the Divine Being recognized in different places and ages varies only slightly, and is a reflection of the way people live. Most characteristics ascribed to God are universal, with cultural variations.
The impulse toward the Divine has led modern theologians and philosophers to develop ever greater ideas about God which are in alignment with how we operate in the world today, and yet continue to be influenced by traditional roots. The human heart still longs for Love, Protection, Peace, and Clarity. We want Freedom, Joy, and Changelessness. When we begin to recognize that these principles are eternal, transcending culture, history and era, it becomes clear that these qualities are God Itself. The Good we want is God. God is our Good.
As we lean into God, we find God also leaning into us. The Good we seek seems to have found us — although we may suspect that It was never really lost. Always ready to receive us, always waiting with open arms, never in judgment or busy elsewhere — this is the God consciousness that can elevate us into a life beyond our wildest dreams. Spirit is now, and has always been, conspiring on our behalf!
The Power of Intention September 9
"If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants."
- Sir Isaak Newton
Isaak Newton, the seventeenth century mathematician, physicist, and astronomer changed the world with his ideas. When asked how it was that he had such great success, he replied, "By intending my mind."
Intention is always the precursor to any accomplishment. No great work has ever been completed by settling for whatever turns up. We exercise our intention by first being very clear about what we want. Then we speak, act, and envision it as if it is already done.
Visioning our intentions is simple, but we must be relentless in our commitment to it. If we seek better Health, we ponder and act as if it were already ours. The same rule applies regardless of the object of our desire, be it Love, Prosperity, Success, or any worthy goal. We entrust it to God, and behave as if it has already been delivered. And we tirelessly do our own footwork.
As we move in the direction of our dreams, all manner of tools are presented to us. One of these may be accepting the help of others who have already succeeded as we wish to. Sir Isaak describes this as ‘standing on the shoulders of giants’ — we become students of those who have wisdom to share, and then we personalize the outcome of our efforts with our own unique twist. Indeed, the view is magnificent from up there!
Trusting the Power of intention is the way to move ourselves from where we are to where we long to be. We can rely upon our intention to bring us all we truly believe in — while faithfully depending upon the Guidance of Spirit along the way.
