A British Immigrant's Story

My first car was a Graham-Page, bought it second hand in 1916. It had acetylene lights, a new innovation, of that time. In the early days cars were fun, cheap and easy to understand as that, everyone got in on the sport. It was a delight to go out in the old cars, you rarely got back without at least one flat tire, and the wheels came off, no end of excitement. Of course they were used for pleasure....we'd roar along at a frenzied speed of thirty miles an hour every fibre of the jalopy vibrating and flapping like mad.
