The Black Brick

It was at that instant that all hell broke loose. The two suspects each pulled a huge weapon from under their coats. Two rocket propelled grenades, “RPGs” launched. One went right through the door of the room that was supposed to hold their witness. The other went into the wall adjoining the nurse's station. There were two huge ear-shattering explosions in the small enclosed area. Jay and Britt felt the tremor from where they stood two floors below. “What the …”, Jay exclaimed. “Jay, you stay here to protect our witness in case this is a diversion. I’m going up.” Said Britt. And she left the room on the run. The smoke was so thick you couldn’t see anything. Debris was everywhere. Suddenly the sprinklers came on. Slowly the smoke was dissipating. There were groans coming from the nurse’s station. The room where the grenade went in, was on fire. The room on the other side of the nurse’s station was on fire. The doors were laying out in the hall. Britt checked the hall for the suspects. They were gone. She opened the doors where the real doctors and nurses were waiting and told them their help was needed at the Nurse's station. 5 officers were down, two had bloody faces. Two were unconscious. One was holding his ears and looking stunned. The nurses and doctors began triage.
