Fairy Godparents

This little book is written as a gift of love to you, your family, and all children who find themselves in the realm of a blended family. It is a compilation of lessons—wisdom learned through mistakes, wisdom found through successes of sorts, but mostly, wisdom gained through quieting the mind, entering the Divine realm, and begging for help and insights. It is from that place that I write this book in the hope of shedding some light, love, and peace on your life and the world. …The journey of a stepparent is not an easy one and is often filled with more pain and disappointments than others might ever realize. But take heart; joy, blessings, grace, and peace can be with you along this journey. These pages hold lessons and spiritual sustenance to help carry you successfully along the path of stepparenting. …What if, instead of stepparents, people were introduced to children (and other family members) as “fairy godmothers and fairy godfathers”? You may laugh, but I truly believe that entertaining the notion of gaining, let’s say, a fairy godmother rather than a stepmother would enormously reduce children’s anger, stress, jealousy, and angst. I imagine the label would be perceived as something positive and an exciting addition to a child’s life. Likewise, for the adults in these scenarios, what if we were crowned as fairy godparents and asked to use mystical powers to bless, help, and protect our children? Again, I believe we would see many happier and more blessed blended families in the world. While realizing that life is not a fairytale, I do believe a great spiritual practice to undertake as a stepparent is to silently name and claim ourselves as fairy godparents…
