... as well as the usual parental duties of caring, training, feeding, clothing, educating etc, we found we were struggling to teach our children about God. Sundays and church involvement were more battle than worship. Getting seven children ready for Mass on Sundays was a challenge in itself and, added to that, was the objection by the children to going to Mass. We tried and tried and couldn’t solve this and it didn’t help to be told that we were ‘building treasure in heaven’. Where was the treasure in arguing etc etc.? Were we not to be a light in a dark world?
