Fiona glanced into her rear view mirror and saw headlights that were quickly approaching. She white-knuckled the steering wheel. The darkness of the road took away its civility. It was downright jarring to be on that road by herself. Her finger found the button to switch the interior lights on, then she rummaged in her purse with tight fingers to find her cell phone. She couldn’t feel it, so moving her purse, she found it tucked against her thigh. She grasped it and switched the light off. That truck was gaining quickly as though to pass her, and it was weaving. Her mind processed the alien, yet circulating probability that evil was pursuing her and she dropped the phone. Her wheels hit the stones. She tightened her grip on the steering wheel. Steady. Steady. The truck inched closer. Stones flew. Like this wasn’t really happening, she kept her cool, slowed down a bit-and waited for his next move. In a minute he was beside her and pushed her closer to the ditch. As he gained on her, he slammed on the breaks in front of her car. She did the same, put the car in reverse and screamed sharply. Would she be able to stay away from the ditch?! She reared back, turning the wheel away from the ditch, terror mounting as she felt the passenger front of the car tilt toward the ditch. Survival the only option, she gunned the engine, kept control of the wheel, and pushed back with all that the car had, finding her in position to be able to complete her u-turn. He backed into her and the sound of metal scraping against her car detonated in her head. Ignoring her fear, she kept her foot pressed to the pedal.

About the Book
The setting for my novel occurs in Canada, in a small town called Kingsville, nestled along Lake Erie. Mari is in the kitchen enjoying the pleasant sounds outside her window, and she brings in the folded newspaper. She unfolds it and is shocked to see the picture of a young woman who has been murdered! In their town! She stumbles to sit down at the table to read the article. Little does she know how she, and others, will be affected by the killing of this young, blond woman.
About the Author
I am the oldest of eight children, born in Canada, and I lived most of my life in Windsor Ontario. Throughout my life, I recognized that I needed to express myself. That way was writing. I created many poems, some of which have been published. In 2020, a book of poetry was born, entitled The Yellow House. However, I longed to write a novel. So, this year, I completed this murder mystery novel. I hope you find the story gripping, as much as I was absorbed writing it.
