Poetry Potpourri

Poetry Potpourri is an inexpensive dose of endorphins to our brains. In 2020, doom and gloom descended upon the world and surely the USA. With the COVID-19 Pandemic, global warming, natural disasters, political schism and incredible social injustice and protesting, Americans were feeling extremely depressed. The following poem was much needed: The Optimist I saw the face of God I saw it seven times… Each time a babe was lifted - From my womb to my arms. It wasn’t in the Book. I did not find it there… The child saw me as God, And I saw it as Rare The vision didn’t last It clouded with the years… Yet each time, I hold a child, The Miracle Re-Appears! Yes, the world and Americans needed an “Antidote for Depression” some “Giggles” a taste of “Desire” and chance to be “Wicked and Wild.” We could all laugh at “The Snob,” enjoy “ Veal Scaloppini” and check out “The Movie Buff. ” Poetry needn’t rhyme with “English is Crazy” or “The Value of an Education.” We could agree with telling our “Secrets” or disagree with “The World is still Wonderful.” Parents may want to get some insight with “Things that Matter to a Child” or escape monotony with Beautiful Butterfly” or “The Hummingbird.” Seniors will be shocked with “When I’m Past Ninety” and identify with “Ode to Seniors” and chuckle at “Enough Already. We all know money doesn’t buy happiness, however “Happiness is…” is a litany of good definitions. Read mine and add yours! In essence, join me in my poetic journey to visit “The Cathedral, ” “Things Italian,” learn “Family Forgiveness” because “It’s Not too Late. ” There is “The ABC’s of Dating” for seniors like me .
