Puzzle Pieces

We can turn on a program like “I love Lucy” and laugh at the antics on the show, but when similar things happen in your life, it isn’t quite so funny. Wes said, “You’ve been busy all day doing the cooking. Why don’t you go relax for a while? You’ve earned it. I will do the dishes.” I can be an obedient wife. I left him alone to do the dishes. When he was done, he went into another room. I went into the kitchen to get something, and the dishwasher was running, and soap bubbles were pouring out of it. I quickly turned off the dishwasher, and I started taking dishes out of it. Wes came into the kitchen when I was cleaning up the soap, and he helped me. The second time he did it, Wes wasn’t around when I was cleaning the dishwasher. It was Mother’s Day. I wasn’t a happy camper about having to clean up the dishwasher by myself, and neither did I ask for help. (Sometimes I would play the martyr.) My daughter suggested I put away the liquid dishwashing soap, so Wes couldn’t find it. I put it in a cupboard out of sight, and I changed to a dishwasher product in pods. What I began to see in months after that, is that Wes would collect the dishes after we ate, but he was only rinsing them off. No soap was included. By then, I was doing all the cooking. I would wait awhile after he “did” the dishes, and then I would either put them in the dishwasher or hand wash them myself (with soap). More comedy occurred one day when I started to make myself a piece of toast. I noticed peanut butter on top of the toaster. Wes said, “Let me clean that up.” He not only had to clean the outside of the toaster, but some on the inside, too. He had attempted to make peanut butter on toast, and he had put the peanut butter on before putting the bread into the toaster. Maybe I should write a comedy show?
