Out of the Darkness and Into the Light

Soon, I became friends with a girl named Brittany and we decided to become roommates. One day, I had to drive about an hour and a half away to spend the day with my family. Things were much better between my parents and me, so I asked her to go with me. On our way back home, we were going about eighty to eighty-five miles per hour on the highway, when suddenly I saw around the bend that all of the cars, just over the hill, were at a dead stop on the highway. I screamed out, “STOP!” Brittany stomped on the breaks just as we went over the top of the hill, with just enough time to stop before she would have slammed into the cars in front of us. Fortunately, the cars behind us were able to stop without hitting us because they saw us stopping. She started freaking out! She said, “How did you know?” I replied, “Know what?” She said, “That they would be stopped?” Confused, I said, “Didn’t you see them? There was a bend in the highway and I saw that they were all stopped … didn’t you?” She said “No! How could you? Are you psychic?” I said, “No.” But when I looked back, the cars over the hill were blocked from all traffic behind them, and there had been no bend in the road. The next few times I drove through that area, I searched high and low, looking for the bend in the road that would allow me to see up ahead where the traffic was stopped, but there was nothing. The road was straight for many, many miles. If we had not stopped when we did, we would have smashed right into at least twenty cars, and so would have everyone behind us. I got chills thinking about it. We should have died that day, but I saw as clear as day, the cars stopped. I don’t know how, but it happened. That moment has stayed with me for years
