Peter began to think of how silly he had been to not wear them in front of others and hide away, something that made him feel so special. Maybe they would bring the same kind of joy to others, he thought. "Surely they would." he whispered to himself. "It's decided!" he told his cat, Oscar. I'm going to wear them tomorrow all day, out in public, and I hope that the town's people will be as happy seeing them as I am." "Me-ow!" Replied Oscar in agreement as Peter cleaned his socks and hung them neatly to dry in anticipation of tomorrow's adventure. As he and Oscar drifted off to sleep that night, Peter pictured the joyful smiles on his friends and neighbors’ faces. He reveled in the idea of bringing such cheer their way.

As a struggling reader growing up, Tricia didn’t like reading until she realized the power of finding the kind of books she loved. It was books about having compassion for others and displaying self-leadership that developed her love of reading.
