Discover Your Diamond

You Are a Diamond Even in a diamond mine, you will have to put in the effort of mining the diamonds. Similarly, dig within to find your diamond. Understand that at the core level, you are the most precious diamond. If you cannot see your diamond yet, it is either lost in a pile of your life’s clutter or covered in ALGAE. But that doesn’t mean that it is not a diamond or has any less value. It still is a diamond. There is nothing wrong with the diamond; all you need to do is clean it up. Your diamond will get uncovered when you go through your life’s experiences playing full out. The universe always provides the right conditions to discover and shine your diamond. Everyone has a diamond within, but only those who deep dive within their formless realm, discover their diamonds. And only those who go through their life’s challenges add shine to their diamonds. Most people are ignorant of their diamonds because they have never looked inside. The real gems lie at the bottom of the ocean or in the deepest part of the earth; likewise, your diamond lies deep within you. Go deep to discover. Without going through the pain of chiselling, a stone block will never turn into a beautiful statue! Know that you are delivered as a rough diamond, and it is the situations in your life that will do the cutting and polishing of your diamond. It is, therefore, important that you understand your struggles. Every struggle and every problem you face in your life provides you with the experience necessary to discover and polish your diamond. Your experiences chip away the excess to reveal the diamond hidden in the rock form. Do not resist, accept the chiselling. Let them uncover your true worth because an uncut and unpolished diamond has a lot less value than a cut and polished one! Just as without polishing, even the best Italian marble looks ordinary; likewise, your diamond will look ordinary until polished. If your diamond does not have the shine yet, which is a characteristic of diamonds, it simply means that you have not allowed your life’s situations to polish your diamond. You are possibly resisting life and not playing full out. It is likely that the fear of the unknown is keeping you in a safe zone, thereby preventing you from the necessary cutting and polishing. Embrace your life’s challenges. Trust the cosmic play; play full out. Your true value will depend on how well you have participated in the play of life and how well you have allowed yourself to be nurtured by cosmic forces. The value of a diamond depends on the person valuing it. If you are not being offered the worth of your diamond, you are possibly surrounded by people who are not capable of valuing your true worth. But before others can assess your worth, you need to assess your own worth. Are you able to see the diamond that you are? Have you allowed your life’s situations to polish your diamond? The following story brings out this point very nicely. A Zen master gave an uncut and unpolished piece of raw diamond disguised as a piece of rock to one of his disciples and asked him to try to sell it at the local vegetable market. He said, “Don’t sell it; just get the maximum price anyone is willing to pay for it there”. So the disciple went to the vegetable market and asked various people how much were they willing to pay for that piece of rock. He was offered $5 at the vegetable market. He reported that back to the master. Then the master told the disciple to go to the main market and try selling that piece of rock over there. Accordingly, the disciple went to the main market. He was surprised when offered $500 for the same piece of rock. He ran back excitedly to the master and said that someone was willing to pay $500 and that it was a very good price to sell it. The Zen master smiled and said, “Not yet.” He then asked him to go to the Jewellery market and try selling it there. The disciple went there and was very surprised when he was offered $5,000 for that same piece of rock. He ran back to the master as fast as possible and said, “Someone is willing to pay $5,000, and now we must sell it”. To his surprise, the Zen master again said no and asked him to go to the gemstone dealers and try selling it there. The disciple had the shock of his life when he was offered $50,000 for that same piece of rock there! The disciple ran back to the master and said that he was totally baffled about what was going on. So the Zen master gave that disciple one of life’s greatest lessons. He said, “Your value depends on who is valuing you.” Continually remind yourself that you are the most precious jewel. It may be that right now; you are in the vegetable market. But that’s for the vegetables, not for you. Lift your game and shift your playing area to where you can play the game of life that you are here to play. As your life situations are to do the necessary cutting and polishing of your diamond, accept your situations and work through them, and soon your diamond will be shining. Do you know that diamond and coal are both made of the same material - carbon? It is the high temperature and pressure that transforms coals into diamonds. So, if your life situations are generating lots of heat and pressure, feel fortunate that the universe is creating the right conditions to make you more valuable, in other words, to convert you into a diamond. Accept all of life’s experiences and play full out to discover and shine your diamond.
