I often think back on that night, the night I should have died. I still have the scar from where the knife pierced my right side, just under the ribs. It slid up into my lung, slicing my diaphragm muscle and causing my lungs to fill with blood. Had it not been for Peg, I would have been dead. I don’t believe in God, but I do know that I witnessed a miracle. Some power that was not of this Earth was at play that night long ago. That night changed my life. It changed the lives of everyone in a small mid-western town where everybody knew everybody, except Peg. No one knew Peg.

About the Author
H.R. Davis grew up in the Midwest reading everything available and exploring the vast openness of Kansas. He taught high school and college English for 15 years, has a Masters in English as a Second Language and is working on a PhD in Curriculum and Teaching. He has travelled all over the U.S. and Europe exploring and learning about other places and cultures.
