A Meeting with My Master: The Movie

Hi, my name is Denise Onita Spearman. How are you? Great I hope. Now, I’m going to tell my movie from present to past, then fast-forward to the present again, ok. Listo? Pay close attention audience. I attest everything in this movie is true. I am 45 years young. I mother two young adults, Shatriya and Aminah. I am a Registered Nut, oh sorry, Nurse. My name is very interesting. My godmother named me. Her name is Mamie Brown. She is deceased now. Denise means wise discerner. Onita means bonita in Spanish, without the B, which means pretty or beautiful. They chose Onita because it has my father’s O in it. His name is Otis. Spearman is a name for a watchman, guardian, or the Grace of God. My father told me we are of Jewish decent. Now that I have given you all the meanings of my name, let me ponder the person behind this pencil. I am from Moab, Liberty City in Miami, right off of 13th Ave. Moab in the Bible is called God’s wash pot, or some say garbage can. Footnote: I am from the ghetto, but the ghetto is not in me internally anymore. Meaning, just by looking at me, you would never know that I am from the hood, unless I told you. I always had my external appearance intact, however, I used to always feel like a garbage can on the inside, until I met Jesus. People would always call me pretty or good looking, but I never felt that way internally, until 15 years ago. As you journey through this movie with me, you will understand why. God has brought my self-esteem up to decency, and I have made full circle of the person I used to be. I am a child of God, and Jesus is my Elder Brother. I am a slave who has been purchased with a major price. I am expensive, but my Elder Brother is priceless, because of what He did on Calvary for us. He made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you God, thank you Jesus, thank you Holy Spirit. I am a blood washed Baptist believer who puts her trust in Jesus Christ. He is my Master, not man. I am a worshiper who reads the Word from an all knowing wise God-The Bible. For my unkind friends, I believe in equality for all. Can you image if Jesus would have thumbed his nose up at us EVEN THOUGH HE is far more Superior than us all? Suppose Jesus would have changed His mind about going to Calvary to die for our dirty sins? I said this to say, if Jesus didn’t look down on us, what makes us think we can do it to each other? I am really a dependent. Meaning, I pray and get my answers from one person, and His name is GOD. I am not moved by the opinions of others anymore. Now, I am a person filled with joy and wit. I always had compassion and empathy for others. I guess that is why God called me to become a nurse. Nevertheless, I could never understand me, and why I never had joy, until I became a born-again Christian, with a purpose to do the will of God, even though I had boughts of depression since 1999. I am a member of New Birth Baptist Church Cathedral of Faith International in Miami, since 1999, where Bishop Victor Tyrone Curry is the founding Senior Pastor/Teacher. I love my Church, and I love my Pastor. However, I never met my Pastor face to face. But, we have kindred spirits. We know a lot about each other, and we never officially met each other. The only time I see my Pastor is when I’m in Church or if we have events outside of Church. Ruth 2:4-5. Bishop and other people are trying to figure out who I am. Well, my name is Ruth(new believer), and my mom is named Naomi for this particular moment in time. I have been gleaning in Boaz’s field(Church) for 15 years now. I have been there faithfully for a long time. However, people thought I was krazy with a k. Even my Bishop thought I was krazy with a k, until around the end of July of 2013. Bishop and I are prayer partners and we never met. GO FIGURE. Honest. GOD DID IT!!!!! I am a leader, and thanks goes to Luke 4:17-19 from the prophet Isaiah.
