Think of a projector and screen. Perhaps you are doing a presentation using these as your apparatus to deliver a presentation. If there is a technical issue and the presentation does not play what do you do? Likely you will look to the computer from which the presentation is being drawn or the projector itself but rarely will you go to the projector screen as that’s just the canvass on which the presentation plays out.
Well why then in life do so many of us when in the claws of fear and perceived problems do we look to change the external events in which we see the problems play out? That too is like going to the projector screen, the real issues lie within the working of the computer or internal projector.
In this case the projector is you, your internal space and much of that is determined by your sub conscious mind. The sub conscious mind is a wonderfully powerful entity, a store house of memories if you will. Your subconscious allows you to do so many things without thinking, it allows you to multi task and just get things done. Without it you’d still be learning how to walk, let alone perform taken for granted simple tasks like tying your shoelaces or driving a car.
Take driving for instance, imagine all the data, thinking, muscular ability, nerve synapses and so on it takes to drive a car. Not only that but you are bombarded with external inputs like road signs, busy traffic, the noise of the radio and many other things. As well as this, your internal goings on such as thinking about the future or worrying about the past. It’s all happening yet you can drive for miles without really consciously doing so. There’s the magic of the sub conscious mind, it keeps us alive and safe.
It is said that the consciousness that you experience is only 5% of the picture and that the other whopping 95% is happening sub consciously, thus you are unaware of it. Can you believe that? Only 5%!
Your sub conscious mind literally processes around 2 million bits of information per second, a task I think you’ll agree, that is not something us in our conscious minds would be capable of, I’m in trouble with anything more than two tasks at one time! It’s the old iceberg analogy, imagine that your conscious mind with its five senses is the tip of the iceberg whilst what is really driving the ship and making things happen is that 95% at a sub level.
You are the captain of your own ship, so where do you want to sail to? You can do anything you want to with your life, that’s the deal down here on planet earth. Despite what you may have been taught and definitely despite the standards that you think others and society expect of you, it’s really only about you and your desires.
The best way to make things happen is by tapping into that 95%, the computer, the projector but NEVER the 5%, the screen or the environment in which your life plays out. Through the rest of this book we look at ways of effecting this 95% so you can use it to your advantage to make things happen in your life. To direct your ship in the right direction with the understanding that life is really about the journey and really not about your perceived destination. So even if you don’t know where you are going or where you want to go that doesn’t matter. As you tap into your soul and your truth things will start to unfold for you but first you must learn how to be yourself and more importantly how to love yourself.
