“I could hear the Falcon’s cry piercing the sky. The sun was hot and relentless. We had been walking for what seemed like eons. It was slow, torturous. Each step felt like an effort, as though we were walking through molasses. Members of my family were with me, a band of travelers looking for a reprieve. We had volunteered to come on this mission, we suspected but did not know for sure that we would be tied to the cyclical karmic fate of the dense Earth. I watched as the Falcon glided for a moment and then disappeared into the sun. The lush valley sprawled out before us, rich greens bellied up to river banks. Palms swayed in the wind. I could see the progression of time speeding by as farmers, artisans and builders emerged from the local human stock – they cultivated the land and began building our cities. I watched as scaffoldings were erected and buildings constructed – it was happening within seconds, yet I knew hundreds and hundreds of years were passing. Suddenly everything was still. I heard the Falcon again and when I looked up, I was seeing my own reflection in a polished mirror. I was wearing a white dress and could feel the lightness of the linens against my skin. My bare feet flat against the stone floor. I leaned in to take a closer look. I picked up a paint brush, dipped it in kohl and began tracing the outline of my eyes. I stopped at the inside corner of my left eye and dragged the brush slowly against my face, tracing the contour of my cheek bone. I repeated this with my right eye feeling each of the bristles, wet against my skin, marking me with the ceremonial makeup in honor and reverence for what I was about to do. I picked up a golden necklace and fastened it around my neck. I lifted my headdress with both hands and placed it upon my head. The horns and the disk were made of gold. A green stone cut like an emerald glittered at the center of my forehead. Slowly and deliberately I crossed the room, passed through a short corridor and entered an antechamber. I looked at the table to my right. It was perfectly laid out with golden surgical instruments. I ran my fingers over them. I could feel my own heart beginning to pound against the inside of my ribcage. I paused over one that looked like a cross between a harvesting sickle and a scimitar. I breathed deeply and picked it up. I opened the chamber room door and saw the being on the table waiting for me. I stepped forward and closed the door behind me.” - Isis
