From Darkness to Light: Why We Need the Darkness to See the Light Within
The First Day: Light
The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. (Genesis 1:3–4)
This concept seems like an easy one. But do we truly understand its very essence? If there is light and darkness, is there right and wrong? Good and bad? Is there a balance between the two? Do we want to lean more toward light rather than darkness, and how do we do so?
The night—since my childhood, I have always wrestled with the dark. The nights seem long at times—quiet, alone. The days, with the sun in the sky, seem easier, brighter, and more comfortable. We experience unconscious dreaming at night versus conscious dreaming (or thoughts) during the day. We need them both, not only to recognize the importance of each other but also to become more aware.
Maybe we don’t have the answers. Maybe it is not definitive but rather, relative. Polarity is about the relationship of opposites, not the opposites themselves but how they are actually connected to each other. Understanding this idea helps us to live our lives with more awareness about our existence.
Many people say there is no right or wrong, only the path that you choose, like being on a hiking trail and choosing one direction to walk. Yes, you may end up in the same place, but on the other hand, you may lose your way. There is a difference between choosing the right path for oneself and being on the wrong path as well. Some people say that we always end up in the right place, and I tend to agree, but if you choose the right way for yourself in the first place, you will be on your journey with more confidence from the inception. In order to know what is right for you, you must reach down into your soul and feel. Only you know if you are on the right path, and if you don’t have the answer, look for the signs.
We all have guides. There is an endless amount of entities, energies, angels, animal guides, spirit guides, and avatars that are looking out for us. They know our struggles, they see our weaknesses, and they want us to succeed, feel happiness and fulfillment, and reach our highest potential as human beings on this planet today. They are all there for us to access wisdom and find clarity, and they show us the way to more joy through our experiences. We must become aware of the signs surrounding us and recognize them when they occur; otherwise we get trapped or stuck in the mud and don’t move forward.
