The Call to Fatima

The Seventh Apparition of Fatima is very relevant for today The Picture is Frightening Servant of God Sister Lucia states in her book “Calls from the Message of Fatima”: “If we look at the world, considering how people lived in the time of Jesus and unfortunately how they live today, the picture we see is frightening”. The disobedience against the Ten Commandments have brought with it many wars, evil vices of impurity, divorce, abortion, abusive drugs and drink, embryo research, same sex marriage, child pornography, prostitution, teen sex, white collar crime, suicide and innocent lives taken suddenly in random bombings and shootings. The net result is that all nations continue to suffer. Seventh Apparition Revealed Shortly after the death of Sr Lucia on the 13th February 2005, the late Fr Luis Kondor, Vice Postulator for the cause of Blessed Jacinta and Francisco, was asked by Thomas McCormack in front of camera, if there was anything important to share about Sr Lucia now that she has passed on to her eternal reward? Fr Kondor explains, “Up to the present time, this seventh apparition was puzzling and made people wonder: Did Our Lady come a seventh time? And when did Our Lady come and how did Our Lady come? After 1920, the two Little Shepherds were already in their tombs, and Lucia remained alone. She was like a ball being tossed from one place to another in such a way that Lucia almost got sick because of this situation. She had been taken away from her own family to live with wealthy goodwill Catholic families in both Lisbon and Leiria. In the meantime, having just been restored to the old Diocese of Leiria, came the new Bishop Dom Jose, whose first intention was to look up the Fatima events, and second to contact the only remaining seer which was Lucia. So, the girl came to see her Bishop, who already had a plan for her”. Fr Kondor continues, “The Bishop proposed to Lucia, you have to go away from your family and from Fatima. You have to go to an unknown place. And so he organized that she would change her name, she could not reveal to anyone who she was, where she came from, which family and to no one she could ever say that she was the Fatima seer. So, she could not speak about Fatima and could no longer contact anyone from her family, even her own Mother. The only possible contact was through a Priest through whom the letters of Lucia and her Mother were corresponding”. The Apparition on 16th June 1921 Fr Kondor details that, “Her departure to Porto in the north was set for 16 June 1921, and so Lucia, 14 years old, went to say farewell to the places of the great events, also to the houses and of course to the people. On the way, when she was shedding tears and heartbroken, something unexpected started to grow in her heart: the doubt about leaving her dear family and this holy place. She would think to herself that « I am in no way going to leave my family, my friends and this holy place. I have a plan of myself to help the others, and so I have to retract what I have already promised my Bishop; I will not obey him». And so she came to the Cova da Iria, by the place of the apparitions, and she bent over shedding even more tears that were falling over the roots of the Holm oak tree, making at the same time the strong decision not to go back the next day to Leiria to see the Bishop and just leave it like that”. He added, “Lucia was struggling with the thoughts of the decision of obeying her Bishop and not being able to except all the suffering God wishes to send her. Lucia intends to inform the Bishop: « I am sorry, but I have to retract what I promised, I shall not go: I will not go away from this place». At this moment, she felt someone touch her right shoulder, which makes her looks up, sees Our Lady at her side, and in this moment of emotion she sees the very serene and amiable look of the Blessed Mother, who tells her: « I am here now for the seventh time and you have to go where your Bishop is sending you. This is the will of God». And from this moment on, with these words, as she writes in her diary, the mothers are always closer to her little sons and daughters in the most difficult moments of their lives, when they are sick, when something happens, and so came my dear Mother too, who had promised to be always close to me, and never to abandon me and so here She was: «Here I am seventh time to tell you that you have to obey your Bishop.» And from this moment on, started the way forward for Lucia: she entered the Religious Order that had taken care of her in her youth. Our Lady also said to her, “I shall come yet another time, to ask for the Devotion of the Five First Saturdays”. Unveiled to the World The seventh apparition teaches us about the importance God places on obedience. Our Lady foresaw in 1917 that Catholics would disobey. The Mother of God asked Lucia, age 9, to “learn to read”. Servant of God Sr Lucia spent many years preparing her book “Calls from the Message of Fatima”, which was approved by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger in Rome and he stated to the late Fr Luis Kondor, “that this book is the most important book for Catholics for 21st Century”. Sr Lucia’s writings instruct us to focus on the Ten Commandments, Faith, Hope, Love, the Rosary, Brown Scapular enrolment and all the basic teaching of the Church. In her book, she says she desired giving of her life to protect God’s law so that all souls could reach salvation. “How happy I should be, if God were to give me, too, the grace of giving my life in defense of his Law and if by so giving it, men acknowledge their sins, asked God’s pardon, amended their lives and do penance, so that they might be saved and gain eternal life”!
