DEDICATION
This book is dedicated to all the African American mothers who has protected and shielded their sons and pushed their daughters out to be successful. It is also for all those mothers who have been depleted of the love that was wholeheartedly given to the son, but the love was never given back to her in returned. This book is also dedicated to every mother who has felt the loneliness of that son’s love and have battled with some type of sickness, illness, or life threatening condition in their bodies such as; heart disease, cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, bursitis, and any other outward manifestation of the hurt.
It is time to awaken to the truth about this displaced relationship and experience joy and freedom. The truth of; understanding that the love and protection you had for your son was/is excessive displaced emotions based on the fact that there was not a strong male figure in your life, not even the father of the male child, which too is a part of the curse. It is time to reverse the curse by making the necessary changes in our lives and our psychic.
This book is dedicated to every daughter who feels less loved by their mother and who may have the potential to continue this curse with her male seed. It is time for truth and understanding of “why” things happened the way they did in your family relationships. Understand, you were never loved less than your male siblings, yet you were just viewed as being more independent. It was never an issue of love because love was always there.
This book is dedicated to every son who has a mother who loved him and yet, through protecting him, handicapped him from becoming a strong man while depending upon him as if he was the man in her life. Understand it was not intentionally done by the mother, but it was designed to happen although most of us never realize this problem exists. What good is a solution if you are not aware that there is a problem? To seek the change that is needed, listen with your heart.
This book is dedicated to my own daughters and sons; I love you and I pray that this book will bring about a better understanding of the “whys” some things have turned out the way that they have in this world. In addition, I pray that it will also bring about forgiveness for each of us. May the joy of knowing and understanding the truth of how this “curse” has affected each of our lives and many around us. May the truth in this book help us to be free to live our best life. Let freedom ring.
INTRODUCTION
This book is about African-Americans in America today. This book is about us. Within these pages, there will be information and facts that relate to our past and present lives and how it has developed the experiences and culture we have today. It is my desire to provide enough information for you to get an idea of where we are headed in the future if changes are not made. This book is being written to bring about an understanding of our current identity through the historical information of our ancestors, our heritage, our culture, our lives, and our relationships. It is critical for us to understand the importance of the information in this book and how it affects our relationships with our children, parents, grandparents, siblings and other relatives as well as co-workers, other cultures and nationalities that we encounter.
My initial thoughts on writing this book were to discuss the Infamous “Willie Lynch Letter” and how it brought about a curse/stigma in the lives of our ancestors (from slavery) and how it has regenerated itself into our lives today. This letter did not just appear to me and nor did it just recently come into my possession. I had read the letter years ago and had actually kept a copy handy to show and discuss with family and friends at various times over the years. Even though it was obvious for me to see how some or all of the practices carried over into our African American culture today, in some form or fashion, I just didn’t see how it could apply to me. There is a wise saying, “When you are ready and open to receive truth, truth will come to you.” I would pray for revelations in my life. It was and still is my desire to live my life to be an example of love and great faith while not living in deception in any area of my life. Sometimes we do things a certain way because it seems natural. We never stop to ask “why” we do what we do. Why do we respond or handle some things the way we do? More importantly, we never question why do our thoughts go in a certain direction without giving them much thought?
This book is being written to tell our people that we were MADE IN AMERICA, Trademark and stamped approved. We were part of the economic development of America by design. Our history and culture was taken from us. Our way of life became that of mimicking the slave owners and their European culture. Yes, that is a part of our history.
