He was so proud of my accomplishment always telling me I was stronger than I knew or believed. Joseph was my motivator and my severest critic. Many times he would say to me “I'm glad you stayed with me because if you hadn't I would have been dead long ago.” Sometimes he would just call to me and say “come here I need a hug”. No matter what either one of us was doing we'd stop and hug each other tight. Then he would lean back look at me and smile. I would say to him Well baby, it is what it is. I love you regardless.

A marriage journey that will help and encourage married couple who are going through turbulent and trying times not to quit but to strive hard to learn how to forgive and love each other on this earthly journey and continue to love and support one another. This story is about two people roller coaster ride from youth to maturity which eventually ended in a peaceful destination.
About the Author
Lynette T. Smith is Christian Education & Professional Development Director for Impact Nation Fellowship Churches based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where her son, Bishop L Spenser Smith is Chief Prelate. She currently serves a Dean of the School of Ministry and head of the Presbyter Board. She graduated from South Carolina State University of Orangeburg, SC (1964) and completed her Master’s Degree in Education in 1974. She completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership (2014) from the University of Phoenix. Also, she currently teaches at the Unity School of Ministerial Preparation. Her dissertation research focused on the impact of leadership practices of Alabama’s interdenominational pastors in influencing their subordinates to become and remain leaders in their organization. In 2014, she was assigned the role of Overseer of Christian Education & Leadership Development. Dr. Smith was married to Joseph W. Smith for forty-nine years. They have four children, Ronald , L Spenser, Curtis Elliot, and Tyfanni. Her husband passed away on December 4, 2015.
