When the retreat was over, we waited in line to thank Ron. I told him that I had never cried so much during a period of four days before. Ron said to me, “...mostly tears of Joy. Now go and share.”
I had already purchased Ron’s first book, The Healing Path of Prayer. I eagerly awaited reading it on the airplane. As Dad and I left the retreat and rode to the airport, I found myself among non-retreat-goers for the first time in four days and felt a bit of aftershock for all I had experienced. Since we arrived at the airport with only carry-on luggage, we proceeded to the security line. I looked at the people all around me and felt the most unbelievable sense of love and compassion for each one of them. I wanted to shout out “I love you, I love all of you!” I had always felt myself to be very accepting and understanding of others. This was different. It was a new perception that I was literally “one with all, part of all people.” This feeling was of an unconditional love that I had never felt before. I marveled in its delicious flavor.
I read almost all of Ron’s book on the flight home. I also felt a greater ease and safety with flying that had escaped me since 9/11. After returning home, I began meditating every morning regularly.
