About the Author

Nakedi Mngadi grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, as the eldest daughter of a single working mother. Her fixation upon her mother and the complex relationship that developed between them is the genesis of this book. Hers is an extraordinary journey where she redefines the term “freedom” and shares how she finally accessed it from the unlikeliest of places.
