My beloved birds is more than a poetry book; it is a painting of our society. I have used the fauna and the flora to express my feelings of love, happiness, courage, hope, and disappointment. I have described each bird according to the wellness or the sickness it brings either to me or to the society. My birds are my lovers, my friends, my enemies, the lawmakers, or the politicians. They all contribute to make the living space the way it is. My beloved birds is a truly exhilarating poetry book. It is designed to aware consciousness about how people behave in the community. People’s behaviors are seeds to their countries and may affect the planet. If positive seeds are sown, the outcome is fructuous to the living species. The opposite is also true. My beloved birds tends to change people positively. In fact, the greatest goal in life is happiness. Everyone, instinctively, wants to be happy. Nature created us solely to be happy. But, “happiness is not something readymade; it comes from our own actions”, according to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Oftentimes people tend to confound pleasure and happiness. We may feel happy driving a luxurious car or owning huge assets. Is that true happiness? Imagine for a minute that a natural catastrophe destroys them; does happiness remain? In fact, true happiness automatically comes when we develop the inner conditions favorable to welcome it. It is a stable state of mind because it is the result of what we have sown. Most poems in this book encourage the readers to sow peace, love and compassion in order to make the planet a better place to live. This is the only way to create true happiness.

About the Author
Dr. Serge Valcourt is the author of several poetry books. He embarked in the poetry boat at the age of fourteen. Since then, he has written numerous poems for his school magazines, community newspapers, and radio shows. Many of his poems have won prizes on various poetry contests. He has earned a doctoral degree in metaphysical science. He lives in Connecticut with his wife, Carolle, and his two children.
