The day was warm and people walked slowly amongst the gravesites, each person immersed with their thoughts. The grey-haired man approached the grave, and hesitantly crouched at the foot of it. He placed a single carnation against the discoloured headstone and then, after reading the epitaph, slowly stood up. ‘In loving memory of Donald Hoddy aged six years, now in God’s arms.’ Those simple words, barely readable after all these years, brought tears to the man’s eyes. Looking about for somewhere to sit, he noticed a bench under the shade of a gum tree a few metres from the grave. As he sat on the bench, all the while with the grave in sight, he reflected on events that led him to the cemetery this day. The warmth of the sun soon relaxed him and as sleep overcame him, he drifted off to another place and time.

About the Book
Two people from a small town are found dead from what seem nonsuspicious circumstances. One thought to be a suicide and the other a result from a heart attack. The deaths are a few days apart and, to the local constabulary, seem unrelated. However, after further forensic investigation, both deaths are declared as murder.
Nestled amongst green rolling hills and stately Red Gums lies Jacaranda Estate, a well-established family business of vegetable growers dependent on the nearby town for its labourers and owned by the Walshe family. Their secretary Donna finds her employer, Cordelia Walshe dead at her desk from a suspected heart attack.
A few days earlier, Shaun O’Brien; the Walshe’s truck driver is found by his cleaner hanging in his garage, the cause an apparent suicide.
Detective Inspector Daniels is seconded to the cases and throughout his investigation; family jealousy, deception, half-truths, and an insulated community thwart him. Daniels eventually unravels a trail of conspiracy, debt and murder. Suddenly the investigation becomes personal and Daniels is caught up in a web of retribution that may cost him a friendship.
About the Author
Jenny lives in Perth, Western Australia, and when not writing, enjoys life outdoors in her garden and travelling to places on her wish list. Until 2002, her writing endeavours were mostly limited to business or family matters. Following encouragement from family and friends, Jenny eventually turned her efforts toward creative writing.
