Tavi Turtle: Unique and Accepted

After Ernest Eagle left, Tavi Turtle walked for a long time, and when he was tired, he decided to stop to rest and to have a snack. Tavi Turtle was taking the first bite from a delicious leaf he found, when suddenly, Tavi Turtle saw a squirrel. Sam Squirrel was fast, too, but not as fast as Ernest Eagle. Sam Squirrel said, “Oh, Tavi Turtle! Silly you, you should just do it like me and stuff your cheeks with the leaf! But Tavi Turtle could not do that. His cheeks were different. Tavi Turtle felt angry when Sam Squirrel laughed at him, and his feelings were hurt because Sam Squirrel even went over to call other squirrel friends to laugh at Tavi Turtle because he was slower than them to eat his food. Although Tavi Turtle thought that Sam Squirrel looked funny with such bubbly cheeks stuffed with nuts, Tavi Turtle decided not to be mean back at Sam Squirrel. After all, Tavi Turtle did not like it when others were mean to him, or to his friends. Tavi Turtle simply said, “I don’t appreciate your comment,” and tucked his head inside his shell, counted to ten, stuck his head out, turned around and kept walking. Tavi Turtle remembered that Teacher Turtle Triny did not like it when kids fought. Kids can get hurt when they fight.
