Introduction After my father passed away writing was the only escape I felt I had. What started out as dark poetry has blossomed into a beautifully perfect way to remember and to finally let go. This process has helped me grow through my suffering and dealings with loss and grief.
This book in its early stages started out as a tool to hurt my friends the ways in which they had hurt me once before. By setting the record straight and letting them know how much their lack of support truly and deeply destroyed me. This pain had left me feeling very alone and unwanted. With time, I started to realize that this book was and always has been for my father. A way to prove to him and myself, that through any heartache or struggle anything can be conquered. After realizing the true potential behind this word, this book has helped me in so many ways throughout my life. It has helped me to grow emotionally and spiritually. It has given me the courage to fight my fears and confront my weaknesses. Finally, it has had the power to help me slowly let go of my own pain and look for the rainbow after this storm.
This four-year process has ultimately led to a finished piece. I hope my journey can inspire and help other teenagers whose lives are being plagued by death and who are possibly feeling as alone as I once was. This book is filled with the deepest and darkest emotions, ranging from anger to guilt all in just a few short chapters. Without taking much notice, this book reads much like my own journey, a roller coaster of emotions. The ups and the downs of a teenager finding her misguided feet in the cruelty of what death brings. Reality has been a lot harder than any dream and through this twisted humor that became my life this journey is perfectly imperfect. These pages are filled with the true and hideous reality which only death can reveal. Ghostly tears stain each page and through this, you will finally know the merciless actuality of the pain, the anger and the dejection a fourteen-year-old girl was once faced with.

About the Author
Kaela now lives in Johannesburg, South Africa, with her mother and younger sister. She is trying to come to terms with the loss of her daddy, who was and still is such a big part of her life. Her family has changed drastically, and in the wake of this sorrow a very unique bond has been created, one that has been built upon each of their own strengths and individual bravery. As the days pass, she has slowly learned to let go and move on while still cherishing the memory of the man who has inspired this journey.
