Experiencing the Lessons of A Course in Miracles

Lesson 30 – God is in everything I see because God is in my mind.
To clarify this lesson, I’ll expand it a little as follows: “God is in everything I see and think because God is in my mind.” You can note that Jesus tells us to do exactly this in our practicing of this lesson: “To help you begin to get used to this idea, try to think of things beyond your present range as well as those you can actually see, as you apply today’s idea.” (W-30.4:2)
This is a very important lesson. As Jesus tells us in the first paragraph: “The idea for today is the springboard for vision. From this idea will the world open up before you, and you will look upon it and see in it what you have never seen before. Nor will what you saw before be even faintly visible to you.” (W-30.1:1-3)
One of the fundamental ideas of ACIM is that the world I’ve been living in here on earth is a world that was made up by me in my mind 100%. The world always comes from me and never at me. With this understanding, what this lesson tells us to do as best we can is join with everything we see (and think) rather than treating everything as separate from us which, of course, is how the world sees and thinks. This is described by Jesus in the second paragraph of this lesson: “Today we are trying to use a new kind of ‘projection.’ We are not attempting to get rid of what we do not like by seeing it outside. Instead, we are trying to see in the world what is in our minds, and what we want to recognize is there. Thus, we are trying to join with what we see [or think], rather than keeping it apart from us. That is the fundamental difference between vision and the way you see.” (W-30.2:1-5)
The idea that Heaven is the One Mindedness of God and His Creation is not a difficult concept. There are no things, no forms, and no individuals in Heaven because all is One and all is pure Spirit (or Mind) and all is Love, eternal and extending outward forever. Jesus tells us this many times in ACIM. If this makes sense to you, then you can see how important this lesson is because it asks us to mentally join with everything that we always thought (or “knew”) was separate. It totally turns around worldly thinking.
